Search Process

The search for the next Senior Pastor of Mariners Church was conducted by a thorough and unbiased search process led by:

  • Mariners Church Elder Board
  • Search Committee of Mariners Church
  • Vanderbloemen Search Group

The Search Committee has worked closely with Vanderbloemen Search Group, an experienced executive search firm specializing in Senior Pastor searches. Kenton dedicated extensive time working with the Search Committee to ensure they had a deep understanding of the Mission, Vision and Values of Mariners Church as they conduct the process. After interviewing many qualified candidates, The Search Committee recommended Eric Geiger to the Elder Board, who prayerfully and unanimously affirmed the recommendation and voted him in as Mariners’ next Senior Pastor.

Letter from Keith & Huy

Dear Mariners Church:

God is writing an amazing story. He has led us to the next visionary Senior Pastor for Mariners Church – Eric Geiger.

Within moments of meeting Eric, Kaye and their two precious young daughters, you are drawn by their energy, enthusiasm, laughter, intellect. . . and their love for both one another and for Jesus. This young family will be a wonderful fit for both the community and our church.

Eric has an incredible blend of significant church and corporate leadership experience, teaching ability, and educational accomplishments, which will empower him to pastor our uniquely gifted and diverse congregation.

At a young age, Eric has: earned a MA in Leadership and Church Ministry and a Doctor of Education (Southern Baptist Theological Seminary); led a huge attendance expansion and adoption of a multi-campus structure in a culturally diverse major metropolitan city (Miami); and reached the highest ranks of one of the world’s largest Christian publishers (Lifeway).

Eric’s passion for teaching is so real that while at Lifeway, he taught at local churches an average of 30 weekends per year, serving as an interim preacher at several churches in Tennessee.

We are also pleased that Eric and Kenton have developed a strong bond and a plan for integration of Eric into the Senior Pastor position, which will allow Kenton to play a continued role in future teaching and leadership development. This will allow for a healthy transition from one visionary pastor to another and illustrates that Eric is both gifted and humble.

The Search Committee and the Elder Board are unified in their belief that God has spoken. We are most thankful for the wisdom, discernment, guidance, and strength He has granted us during this journey.
